Way to Get Rid of Fruit Flies
If you buy and eat fruit at home, you may have noticed that after you throw away the peelings or the fruit starts to age, that there are these little gnat like flies that start flying around your fruit and seem to spread all over the kitchen.
These small flies (normally less than 1/8th of an inch) are known as fruit flies and can pet a pest in the kitchen.
What are some ways of getting rid of fruit flies?
The first step is general kitchen cleanliness as with most forms of pest control. Make sure the surfaces of the kitchen are clean and the food is put away.
Since fruit flies are attracted to decaying fruits and vegetables make sure those products are sealed and put away if you have a fly problem. This is especially true for the garbage can. Make sure it’s sealed.
Another likely source for fruit fly food that’s overlooked is your drain. With garbage disposals sometimes not all the organic contents are correctly dealt with giving the fruit fly a source of food.
Now that everything is nice and clean you need something to catch the fruit flies with.
One option is the sticky fly paper. This is paper that is specially made for flies where they are attracted to the sticky surface then get stuck on it unable to fly away. This will kill the fruit fly since there is no escape.
For those who want a different solution, there are also fruit fly traps. You can make a Fruit Fly Trap. The idea behind the fruit fly trap is that they will be attracted to the fruit or juice at the bottom of the trap after flying in through a small opening. You can simply go outside and let the flies go each day to get them out of your house.
