Sure Signs that You Have a Silverfish Problem

Sometimes you may notice a bug problem but aren’t completely sure what kind of bug you are dealing with. There are some signs that point to a silverfish problem so you can correctly get rid of the right insect.

Normally silverfish aren’t going to be visible but the evidense of them in your home will show the signs they are there.

Silverfish typically are attracted to things like glues and starches. Some common areas where you might notice some damage are around wallpaper and book bindings mostly because of the glue. You will see some notches and irregularities in the fibers which most of the time points to a silverfish problem.

Silverfish are also attracted to cereals due to the starches in them. Look for them in the places you store your cereal and make sure the boxes or containers of cereal are completely sealed. If you have a silverfish infestation, you may notice them in the same cabinet with your cereals.

Another trick is to simply mix together a paste of water and flour placing it on an index card or piece of paper. Leave it there for a few days and monitor to see if any silverfish have come in contact with the paste.
