Silverfish Traps – Are They Effective?
Silverfish traps are yet another way that you can use to try to control a silverfish infestation. Most want to know the effectiveness of a silverfish trap before going through the hassle of buying them and putting them around the house.
Do silverfish traps work at all?
Yes, a silverfish trap will end up trapping silverfish as well as other crawling bugs or spiders in the house. The idea is that they will walk into the tunnel of the trap and end up getting stuck, so anything that is walking will get caught up in the “goo” (normally a starchy glue) and be trapped.
What are some drawbacks of the traps?
The big drawback is the trap can’t be put into small spaces as it has a boxy shape unlike a powdery substance like diatomaceous earth. If you are trying to put a trap in a small area or under baseboards or in bookcases, it just won’t work as well. A powder is just better than a box trap.
So yes they are effective, just not as useful as diatomaceous earth.
