Pests And Bugs In Food And The Pantry
Bugs found in food or around your food is not a very pleasant thought. This means that you have some sort of pest problem that needs to be dealt with otherwise you will continually have pests and bugs in your food. This is problematic because some pests carry diseases and some will excrete into the food that you eat which is disgusting.
There are some strategies for what you can do to prevent this problem.
It’s important that your food is completely sealed. Many cereal boxes for example aren’t sealed that well considering how small bugs and pests can be who are very attracted to these types of foods since they are starchy.
The strategy is to take foods that don’t seal up too well and put them into sealed food containers. You don’t want to keep feeding the infestation else it’s not going to go away.
Another strategy is to take starchy foods like cereals, flours, and carbohydrates and store them higher up while canned goods and food items that are difficult to get into can be stored much lower.
In the mean time put down some of repellent like cinnamon, chalk, hot sauce, black pepper, or whatever safe and natural repellent is best for your particular pest or bug if you identify them.
Bugs in dog food problems also arise. Do your best to properly store your dog and pet food because pests can be feeding off this too.
Two other pointer are to always have a sealed lid on your garbage as this is another food source. Also be sure to fix any pipes or water leaks because the moisture will help many pests stay around as they don’t need to eat as often as they do need to drink water.
