Homemade Wasp Trap

There are two very easy wasp traps to make. These can be put together with basic household items.

Method 1: Milk Jug Trap

Take a milk jug and fill it with some sugary water with a little bit of dish soap. Make sure the mixture is thicker than more watery. This sweet smell as well as the water will attract the wasps. Hang the trap at least four feet off the ground by the handle. That’s it.

Method 2: Pop Bottle Trap

Take a pop bottle and cut the top part off that looks like the funnel. Take the piece and turn it upside down into the bottom half without the lid. Tape these pieces together and put in the same sugary water substance. This trap is a little bit harder to hang but it does work best it off the ground.

How come these traps work so well?

These traps work because wasps like sweet substances. They will find their way into the trap and have a difficult time getting out especially when they come into contact with the sticky substances. They will tire and die inside the trap.

Considerations about using this homemade wasp trap.

Be sure to keep these traps AWAY from your patio unless of course you aren’t going to be in the area. This will attract all sorts of wasps so it’s best to keep it in another part of the yard you don’t normally use.
