Homemade Snake Repellent
Commercial repellents work but you might have need to make your own which in many cases can be cheaper. If you are outdoors in the woods quite a bit or have a snake issue in your yard, having snake repellent on hand is a good idea.
How to make homemade snake repellent.
There are a few different mixtures of repellents to try.
Cat Litter and Mothballs
Take equal parts of cat litter and mothballs and leave this on the ground in areas that you don’t want snakes. What will happen is that the cat litter will make the snakes scales uncomfortable and the mothballs tend to deter snakes from being in the area. Note that if you are also having a problem with neighborhood cats this might not be the best mixture.
Moth Crystals and Powdered Sulfur
Snakes hate both these smells. Combined it’s a potent combination. The downside to this one if used at home is that sulfur isn’t the most pleasant smell to have in your backyard. In the woods it will be fine.
Cinnamon Oil and Clove Oil
Put in equal parts of each of these into a spray bottle mixed with water. Then you have a portable snake repellent that you can use. This one is the safest repellent since the substances don’t have any potential side effects for you or your pets.
Be careful when using a repellent when the snake is right in front of you. Under no circumstances do you want to provoke a snake cause it could be poisonous and strike when terrified.
