Getting Rid of Wasps
Wasps normally stay to themselves but can become a problem when they start nesting in areas where you are normally enjoying your backyard. No one wants to be attacked by wasps because they will just continually sting over and over and cause you much pain. Getting rid of wasps is especially important when you have children in the backyard to prevent them from being stung.
Here is what not to do. Many suggest using kerosene and lighting it to burn and smoke out wasps. This is kind of a dangerous as many times the flames will be near the home.
One way of getting rid of wasps is to use commercial sprays or to make your own. To make your own wasp spray use mixtures of water, soap, and vinegar. You can spray the nest or knock it down with a pole and spray that way as well. Just be sure to protect yourself properly.
When you do spray and disturb a wasp nest, most of the time it’s best to do right before nightfall when all the wasps are in the nest. This makes sure that you get rid of as many as possible.
If you are experiencing major wasp problems but it’s almost fall which brings the cold, most of the wasps will naturally die off just leaving the queen. Get rid of the nest when it’s cold and that should take care of that whole colony.
