Getting Rid Of Carpenter Bees
Carpenter bees look almost identical to bumble bees. The difference is that carpenter bees will burrow and nest inside wood while bumble bees normally will only nest in the ground.
Luckily carpenter bees, unlike termites or carpenter ants, won’t do severe structural damage to the wood in the home. But it’s still a good idea to get rid of them because you don’t want to take the chance of having an infestation.
The signs are that you see them or you notice wood shavings. Just make sure you don’t assume it’s carpenter bees as opposed to termites else this is a huge mistake to make.
If you have found where the carpenter bees have nested, you should first make alot of noise to get them out of the holes. If none come out, you can seal with caulk or temporarily with steel wool which is too strong for their mandibles to cut through.
You can use chemical pest control products like Raid and put it down the holes.
If you don’t like the extra chemicals, consider diatomaceous earth. Sprinkle this substance down the holes if you want to kill the carpenter bees.
This might sound a little strange but you can also vacuum the carpenter bees assuming that you have proper protection. This can get rid of the entire colony very quickly.
