Fungus Gnat Control
Fungus gnats are a big problem with indoor plants and inside of greenhouse gardens. The adult fungus gnats really don’t cause much damage other than being somewhat annoying if they fly around you. The issue is that they lay eggs into your soil which will result in larvae that will eat your plants and ruin them.
There are a couple methods of fungus gnat control that need to be used to make sure they don’t become more of a problem.
Keep your plants as clean from dead plant material as possible. Do your best to clean up fallen leaves and anything else because the adult will feed on these as they decompose.
In a greenhouse plant pots of wheat. For one reason or another the females tend to lay their eggs in this over every other plant. Then instead of growing that plant just get rid of the soil or compost it. These eggs won’t hatch in your greenhouse later.
Get yellow sticky traps. These will catch many of the fungus gnats. It’s not the perfect solution to controlling them, but will reduce their numbers.
Water with bacillus thuringiensis. This is a bacteria that works well on caterpillars and other flies eggs and larvae preventing them from coming back.
