Earwigs need moisture to live. They normally will breed in areas with quite a bit of moisture. The foundation along the house is a nice, attractive breeding ground as well as your garden since you water it.
For your home make sure that your gutters aren’t leaking and flow out to an area that is away from the foundation of the home. If they are inside the home, look for leaky faucets or wet areas like in the basement and fix that problem. Also seal up any cracks in windows or doors that the earwigs along with other pests might enter into the home. This should get rid of most of the earwigs.
In the backyard and garden do your best to get rid of decaying plant material. Earwigs and sowbugs with other pests will feed and live in this decaying plant matter. Also try to get rid of rocks that they might be able to seek shelter under.
One of the best forms of earwig pest control is to use a product called diatomaceous earth in your garden as well as around the foundation of the home. The food grade version of this product will dehydrate and kill the earwigs. They won’t want to be in an area with this product. Be sure to get the food grade version and not the pool grade version of this product.
