Diatomaceous Earth And Fleas – Is this a good strategy for dealing with fleas?
Fleas can become a big problem especially if they start to completely infest your yard and your home. Your pets will thank you if you find a solution to get rid of the fleas and control their population.
One solution for fleas and many other pests is a substance called diatomaceous earth. It’s actually a fine powder that is made from fossilized remains of a marine algae called a diatom. This powder is quite effective because pests like fleas can’t become immune to it because it’s a physical way of dealing with fleas.
Two things will happen to the fleas when they come in contact with diatomaceous earth. They will either become cut from the fine particles or will dehydrate. It’s a very effective means of controlling fleas. But be careful to only get the food grade version of this and not the pool grade.
Inside the home clean everything if you have a flea problem. Then sprinkle diatomaceous earth onto the carpet for a few days to help deal with the problem.
Outside mow the law and clean up any roughage in the yard. Make sure to sprinkle the substance over the yard. It’s cheap so you can use quite a bit.
Make sure to follow the safety guidelines on the specific product that you purchase. Getting it in your eyes for example is not healthy at all.
