Deer Repellent – Getting Rid of Deer in Your Yard and Keeping Them Away

Right when your spring garden is starting to bud and the first plants in your yard are growing, deer start coming up to your fence or even into your yard starting to eat these first spring buds. Not only will they come back for more as they now know it’s a source of food, but will continue to damage your garden, trees, plants, and shrubs causing you problems.

Obviously, this is something you don’t want to deal with and would rather find a deer repellent option to keep the deer away. Deer fencing has it’s drawbacks and not just because of the expense. An adult deer can still jump over an object nearly nine feet high so matter what you do to deer proof your yard, they can get in if they really want. When motivated by food, they will find their way in.

Electric fencing is another option. This has the same drawback where a deer can jump over the fence as well as the drawback of shocking other animals like your pets or even your children.

Deer repellent sprays are another common option. While these are effective, most need to be reapplied every 60 days. So one must get used to consistent applications of the product. Most of these don’t do well after a rain or watering. If you are trying to protect your garden, the repellents will wash away after you water which doesn’t really help you repel deer.
