Could Wallpaper Help With Mosquitoes and Malaria Problems?

There was a recent article about mosquito control using wallpaper.

The concept is that instead of using pesticides to cover everything in an entire house just target one small part of the home that mosquitoes are likely to contact. In this case the wallpaper is treated with pesticides to kill mosquitoes but the rest of the house remains unsprayed.

This mean that the sprays can go much further because they are localized to one thing. The mosquitoes can be controlled still because they will come into physical contact with the pesticide and still die.

The people and pets in the house should be safer overall because they won’t be exposed to harsh chemicals as often. DEET, for example, for the most part is fine to come into contact with every once in awhile like on a camp out or hiking trip. But being exposed to this day after day could have some possible health risks. This concept could help limit those risks.

It makes you wonder whether there will be other uses for such a wallpaper. Many indoor pests like silverfish actually feed off the starches in wallpaper glues. Maybe these could be treated one day with something that will kill them effectively.
