Chiggers can be more of an annoying pest versus a pest that damages. They get mainly onto your lower ankles and cause irritations, rashes, and bumps to you, your kids, and even your pets. Find out how to do proper chigger treatments to eliminate them from your house and yard.

The best place to start is in the yard. Chiggers will be in tall grass, dense foliage, and in bushes. Keeping the grass mowed short and not having parts of the yard with high weeds will cut back on pests like chiggers, ticks, and fleas.

If you have bushes in the yard that you want to keep for decoration or a berry bush, you can use an insecticidal soap on it. This isn’t toxic but will coat chiggers and other pests in a soapy oily mess that will kill them by suffocation.

For your grass apply diatomaceous earth if there is a serious chigger problem. This will solve a number of pest problems.

Inside the home make sure that your animals are clean because this can be a source of bringing in chiggers to the house.

The next defense is going to be to clean the clothes, bedding, and carpets in the house. This sounds like alot of work but chiggers are so small they may be on anything.

Also be sure to clean your house plants as chiggers can live there while inside.

Use diatomaceous earth on your carpets and leave for a few hours then vacuum it up. These same steps will work with indoor fleas as well.
